Crawford C. Campbell, MD
Dr. Crawford C. Campbell could rightfully boast of impressive credentials – Harvard Medical School, Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program residency, Fellowship Training – but he prefers to spend his time talking to his patients and making a difference in their lives. “I’m not an academic kind of guy. I just want to take care of patients, not write papers.”
Dr. Campbell, the first Board Certified hand surgeon in the Merrimack Valley, believes hearing a patient’s story – the history taking – is the most important part of interaction with the patient. For him, and all the doctors at Essex Orthopaedics, it’s all about listening and being present for the patient, even if it’s 2 a.m. in the morning.
“You’re part of our big family and we’re going to do our best for you.” That’s why many of the practice’s patients come through word-of-mouth and referral from patients who have had an extremely positive experience, not only because of the expertise, but also the exceptional communication. “I treat everyone in my care as if they are a member of my family. We are each unique, and the excellent care I’ve been able to provide thousands of people comes down to really knowing each individual, their symptoms, lifestyle, physiology and health. With this in mind, I focus not just on the details of the science and medicine, but also on listening carefully and communicating fully.”
